Learning and skills

My Learning Line:

I have been through Primary school and Secondary school, I completed my GCSEs at my secondary school, Maths, English, triple science, Engineering, Art and Geography. After Secondary school I entered sixth form college where I applied for four alevels Computing, Maths, Physics and architexture, architecture I only managed to get an AS, I left with three A levels. With these Alevels I applied for Computing at Anglia Ruskin at Chelmsoford, I have started my year there.

Primary school was important as I learnt how to use equipment such as scissors and pens, I also learnt how to add, mutliply and long division which was key to learn GCSE Maths. I was shown how to write creatively, and I was taught how to be a team member in sport activities. At Anglia Ruskin university I am learning how to control my budget and spendings.

At secondary school I was given a chance to go into a work enviroment for 2 weeks as work experience, I chose the Babraham institute in Cambridge where I performed as a bioinformatician. It was a valuable work placement as it gave me sample tasks of the working enviroment. I met biologists and scientists and computer programmers. I was shown some computer programs and source code, this helped inspired me into software engineering, which is a hobby.

SWOT reveiw:

SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.

I will need to perform this to aid the reflection on my progress. It is a very useful yet powerful way of summing up achievements as from this I can collect events where I have shown and learnt I can perform these skills.

Strengths:
·
Punctual
· Team member
· Organised
· Maths
· Computers
· Programming I can use Pascal and Delphi, C# and C++
· I have enthusiasm the drive and will
· Note taking
· I am aware of the sources around me

Weaknesses:
·
Writing grammatical essays
· Multitasking
· Speaking in front of an audience

Opportunity:
·
The ability to learn advanced programming techniques
· The ability to learn about computer systems
· To meet new people
· To work in a team
· To work individually

Threats:
·
Student finance
· Modules
· Teaching techniques – vary in effectiveness

Vark questionaire:

Vark stands for visual, audio, read and kinesthetic. It describes what kind of worker and learner they are. The questionaire aks questions and the user answers accordingly. Kinestheic is where the user like to feel and touch, be practical to learn. My result was kinesthetic from the questionaire. I do not feel that this is very exact, I prefer practical, but some of the questions were too vague and some I would answer multiple answers. The questionaire should be redone for better accuracy.
